BAMS

Introduction

The British Association for Modernist Studies (BAMS) is an organisation designed to bring together the work of all those interested in modernism in the UK. BAMS exists to provide a means of communication between individuals and already existing groups working in modernist studies across Britain, and across all relevant disciplines, and to make connections with modernists abroad.  It aims to support and develop education and training in modernist studies, particularly for postgraduates.  At present, we envisage two main focal points for BAMS’s work. First, a web portal that will provide links to modernist research seminars, conferences, centres, events; information on resources; a directory of individuals’ research interests; and an electronic mailbase. Second, facilitation of postgraduate training days on specialist topics (to revolve between institutions) and support for a yearly postgraduate conference. At this stage, BAMS does not plan to hold a regular general conference, though it may be able to provide support or partnership for events organised by others.
